FAQ

What is the purpose of a rifle silencer?

A rifle silencer, or suppressor, reduces the noise generated by a firearm when fired, making shooting more discreet.

How does a suppressor work?

Suppressors work by slowing and cooling the gas that exits the barrel after firing, which significantly reduces sound.

Are rifle suppressors legal?

Yes, but their legality varies by state and country. It’s essential to check your local laws regarding ownership and usage.

Do I need a special license to purchase a suppressor?

In the United States, you must complete the ATF Form 4 and pay a tax stamp fee to legally purchase a suppressor.

Can I use a suppressor on any rifle?

Not all rifles are compatible with suppressors. You must ensure that your rifle’s caliber matches the suppressor specifications.

What are barrel threading services?

Barrel threading involves modifying your rifle’s barrel to allow for the attachment of a suppressor or other muzzle devices.

How do I know what suppressor is right for my firearm?

Factors such as caliber, barrel length, and intended use will help determine the best suppressor for your firearm.

Will using a suppressor affect my rifle’s accuracy?

A properly installed suppressor can enhance accuracy by stabilizing the bullet’s flight and reducing recoil.

What is the difference between a pistol suppressor and a rifle suppressor?

Pistol suppressors are designed for handguns, while rifle suppressors are made for rifles and may be longer or more robust to handle higher pressures.

Can I clean my suppressor?

Yes, most suppressors can be disassembled for cleaning, but check the manufacturer’s instructions for proper maintenance guidelines.

How do I mount a 155 pistol suppressor to my handgun and have it function properly?
As with any pistol suppressor weighing over approximately 4.5 ounces, a booster (also called a Nielsen Device) is necessary to maintain proper function. A full explanation of what a booster is, why it’s necessary, and how it works can be found HERE. While JK doesn’t make our own pistol booster yet, HUB threaded boosters will work in our 155 series of suppressors and adapters for other size pistol boosters can be found HERE along with a compatibility list.
How do I figure out what thread pitch of my shotgun?
If you have a shotgun from a major manufacturer, we probably have it listed on the CRMD page for shotguns with internal choke tube threads (scroll down to the Specs section for more details) or on the OBMD page for shotguns with external muzzle threads. We recommend contacting your manufacturer’s customer service department if you are unsure what your factory thread pitch is.
How do I remove the taper mount from the suppressor?
We install the taper mount with temporary thread locker compound. Carefully heating it to 350 to 400 degrees with a heat gun or torch will allow for easier removal with two wrenches or a bench vice and one wrench/socket. How-to video HERE.

How long will it take for a backordered item to be back in stock?
That will vary by product and circumstance, but we try to keep our product pages up-to-date with lead times and status. Contact us HERE for specific inquiries.
How do I make my suppressor longer?
We can make it happen, but it’s a little tricky due to ATF regs. We’ll need to get your complete suppressor back here, file an update with ATF, add the baffle(s) to your suppressor, and send it back to you. Contact us HERE to get started.
What does using the suppressor wet/dry mean?
Read the blog article on shooting suppressors wet HERE!
How to properly secure a muzzle device?
JK Armament muzzle devices don’t have to be timed, making installation fast and simple! A how-to video can be found HERE. The short version: use a box wrench or socket and torque to approximately 35 ft-lbs. Thread locker optional.
How to properly torque a JK suppressor to minimize baffle movement?
Tightening the entire suppressor onto the firearm by torquing the end cap until firmly hand tight is typically more than sufficient. For hard use with repeated heat cycling, the suppressor can be further secured with the use of a wrench or socket on the end cap. Finally, thread locker can be used on the baffle threads before assembly and torquing to ensure nothing will come loose.

Can I use my CCX on a .22?
Absolutely! It will be a little quieter with a .22 caliber end cap, but it’s also fine to use as-is.
Can I buy more Baffles to make the suppressor quieter?
Yes! But there are a couple of hoops to jump through due to ATF regs. We’ll need to get your complete suppressor back here, file an update with ATF, add the baffle(s) to your suppressor, and send it back to you.
