All about the JK 195 series of Choke Caps
Our patented Choke Cap technology makes the JK 195 series of 12 gauge suppressors the first and only shotgun suppressors on the market that correctly and variably shape your shot pattern to suit your use! They’re the only shotgun suppressors that won’t hold you back when a tight shot pattern is required, such as with skeet, trap, and bird hunting.
Easily swapped in seconds with no specialized tools required, JK 195 Choke Caps are available in Cylinder bore (included with most JK 195 suppressors), Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full shot pattern restriction levels. Also available is the high-flow BREACHER Choke Cap for law enforcement and military breaching / tactical use.
What does a Choke Cap do?
Choke Caps squeeze and shape your shot pattern to make it as effective as possible at varying ranges. If you’re shooting a closer target, you want your shot to spread out more quickly. If you’re shooting a farther target, you want your shot to stay tighter so more of it reaches the target.
Choke Cap options and expected behavior:
- A Cylinder bore Choke Cap is the most wide open. Birdshot fired through a cylinder bore Choke Cap, including the BREACHER Choke Cap, will cover an approximately two-foot-wide circle at 15 yards.
- One level tighter is the Improved Cylinder Choke Cap. Birdshot will spread to a two-foot diameter at about 20 yards.
- Next up is the Modified Choke Cap. A two-foot spread now happens at about 25 yards.
- Finally, our Full Choke Cap constricts your shot pattern the most, pushing that two-foot spread out to about 30 yards. *Pending further testing, at this time we recommend only using lead birdshot with the Full Choke Cap.
If you’re an experienced shotgun shooter, you’ll find that we’ve modeled our Choke Caps after common 12 gauge shotgun choke tube constriction levels so the names and shot patterns align as closely as possible.
We recommend patterning your specific gun and ammunition with our Choke Caps so you know exactly what to expect when you’re in the field.
Swapping Choke Caps:
JK 195 Choke Caps are even easier to swap than traditional shotgun choke tubes! No specialized tools are needed; simply use the Choke Cap’s standard wrench flats (1.87″ across the flats) to remove one Choke Cap and install another. Lefty loosey, etc.
